Ovaphil L, Ovaphil-L (Letrozole 2.5 mg) is a second-line drug in treating ovulation inducing in women with PCOS-related infertility, anovulation and unexplained infertility struggles. Ovaphil-L promotes the growth of healthy follicles, normal menstrual cycles, and improves the chance of natural conception. Gynecologists therefore widely consider Ovaphil-L a first-line treatment because of its similar high success rates, favorable safety profile and better endometrial response compared to other first-line treatments.
Ovaphil L is a scientifically designed ovulation induction treatment for anovulatory or abnormally ovulating women who are infertile, usually seen in Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) or unexplained infertility. Each tablet contains Letrozole 2.5 mg, a non-steroidal aromatase inhibitor and a primary cause of ovulation induction.
Letrozole exerts its effect by inhibiting the action of the aromatase enzyme, hence reducing the amount of estrogen in the body. Short-term suppression of estrogen elicits a compensatory increase in follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) secretion from the pituitary gland. Increased levels of FSH cause stimulation and development of ovarian follicles, thus leading to ovulation.
⚙️Mechanism of Action:
- Inhibits androgen conversion to estrogen through aromatase enzyme inhibition
- Decreases estrogen-induced inhibition of the hypothalamic-pituitary axis
- Promotes endogenous FSH release
- Triggers growth of follicle in the ovary
- Encourages timely ovulation
Indications:
- Anovulatory infertility, especially in PCOS
- Irregular ovulation cycles
- Induction of primary ovulation in resistant patients to Clomiphene Citrate
- Unexplained infertility in certain cases
